Universe Awareness Offering Two Internship Positions
Vagas para estágios remunerados para estudantes na área da divulgação de ciência/astronomia no Observatório de Leiden na Holanda
Universe Awareness (UNAWE) is excited to announce that we're offering two students the opportunity to join us in our endeavour to bring the wonders of the cosmos to young children all around the world. The internships are being offered as part of SiS Catalyst, a four-year European Commision project designed to enhance communications between children aged 7-14 years, and the institutions which make the decisions that will shape their futures, hopefully leading to more children following a career in higher education. The UNAWE intern positions will both be hosted by Leiden University in the Netherlands, base of the Universe Awareness international office for three months, from September to October 2013.
The two main, core resources of UNAWE are Space Scoop, our astronomy news services for young children, and the Universe in a Box, an educational toolkit created to help teacher's all around the world in brining astronomy and space sciences to primary school classrooms. Each intern will be working with one of these resources; researching existing providers of science contents, and developing distribution methods. We are looking for enthusiastic, proactive people, with a passion for science. A high-level of English language skills – both orally and written – is necessary for both these positions.
There are two more internships available under the SiS catalyst programme this year; one is at the Ankara Children's University in the Turkey, where the intern will be tasked with organising 32 Science in Society activities around the country. The other in the UK at the University of Bedfordshire, working closely with the students' union to help promote STEM courses within the country, with the aim of encouraging young people to take up these essential qualifications.
The positions are available to all European Union citizens, and we'll help cover your travel, accommodation and living costs. So send your CV and a motivation letter to firstname.lastname@example.org before 10 September!
