Support Astronomer position in relation to the Stellar Observations Network Group (SONG)


The Stellar Astrophysics Centre (SAC) at Aarhus University, funded by The Danish National Research Foundation, invites applications for a position as Support astronomer in relation to the Stellar Observations Network Group (SONG) The position is open from 1 August 2012 and will be running until 31 March 2018.


The Department of Physics and Astronomy plays a leading role in the development of the SONG network (http://song.phys.au.dk/), a project which will enter science operations in 2012. The activities for the support astronomer will be related to the SONG technical activities, especiall focusing on planning and executing observations, i.e. remote observing, pipeline data analysis as well as test and maintenance of the instrument and the software and verification of data products including scientific evaluation. There will be limited time available for personal research, at an approximate level of 25 %.
